My mission has always been to make math engaging, relevant, and accessible to all of my students. Over the course of 20+ years, I have taught math to hundreds of students from age 5 to 25, served as department chair in three schools, and worked extensively as a curriculum developer. I am also very proud to have helped create developmental apps for kids with language delay and for co-authoring multiple papers on the topic of cognitive development and language therapy. When I’m not teaching, I can usually be found running, rock climbing, or frolicking in the mountains with my friends, husband, and two young kids. Read more about my background and teaching philosophy.
I transitioned to teaching after a 20+ year career in managing the biometrics (statistics and data management) aspects of clinical trials. I’ve previously been an adjunct statistics professor at a community college, tutored in various programs, and worked in both public and private schools. I have strong opinions on how an elementary school should look and function, which support a strong academic program and the development of soft skills. In addition to teaching, I plan to focus on the operational aspects of running a school.
I’m a licensed early childhood educator with a master’s degree in child development and psychology from Stavropol State University. I have been working with children of all ages since 2008, and as a mother myself I understand the importance of having loving and professional childcare providers in the lives of preschool children. My main priorities are safety and love, which are the foundation for bringing up a happy and successful person. I try to make learning fun and exciting by participating in continuing education and incorporating new educational methods into my classes.
When not in school I’m enjoying outdoors with my husband and our daughter and finding some time for my jewelry making hobby.
My interests have always been around music and art (I graduated from Moscow Conservatory with BA in Performance and then persued Master degree in music theory and production from Russian Academy of Music). I started working with kids in 2016 as a music teacher and music director’s assistant in a youth orchestra. As a classical music producer I worked in Germany and Canada before I finally settled in Boston where my two sons were born. My own motherhood journey consolidated my interests in pedagogy and further expanded to child psychology and early childhood development.
My goal as a preschool teacher is to create a warm and nurturing environment where each child is supported. I love introducing kids to classical and world music and literacy as well as engaging in fun active games.
I am beyond happy to see my both sons thriving at Lumen Academy.
